Amala Shetty, PH.D., ABPP
Amala Shetty is a licensed psychologist in Oregon and Washington and a certified forensic evaluator in Oregon. She is one of six board-certified forensic psychologists in the state. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley, her master’s degree at Santa Clara University, and her doctorate at the University of Oregon. Dr. Shetty has completed clinical and assessment training in several correctional and forensic environments, including county jail and secure psychiatric hospital settings for juveniles, adults, and individuals deemed sexually violent predators. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington, where she received training in both criminal and civil forensic evaluations. After earning her doctorate, she completed a forensic psychology postdoctoral fellowship at Northwest Forensic Institute. During that time, she received further specialized training in a variety of criminal forensic evaluations, including competency to proceed, criminal responsibility, violence risk assessment, mental state/diminished capacity, sentencing mitigation, and psychosexual evaluations. After completing her postdoctoral fellowship, she was hired as a full-time forensic psychologist at Northwest Forensic Institute, where she continues to conduct criminal forensic evaluations for both adult and juvenile defendants. Her practice primarily consists of competency, criminal responsibility, mental state/diminished capacity, sentencing mitigation, violence risk assessment, and psychosexual evaluations.
